Banksy's Mild Mild West defaced by anti-gentrification group

I love this. Anti-gentrification group Appropriate Media defaced Banksy's 'Mild Mild West' mural in Bristol. The genius double negative of using graffiti on graffiti to protest gentrification. Fucking amazing. It totally works too.

"I'm confused at the message from whoever did it"

said Oli Wells, who is the director of Coexist, the company refurbishing the area

"It's been cleaned by the community who sit outside and enjoy the artwork - street drinkers and local businesses working together so it seems to indicate the local community like having the Banksy there,"

Oli seems to understand it better than he's leading on. Appropriate Media say

"Graffiti artists are the performing spray-can monkeys for gentrification."

Word to mother.

One nation under CCTV...apparently

So shockingly CCTV does nothing to prevent crime or capture criminals. Shocking right? What I wonder (and I often wonder this), is what happens to the mind of the person who has to sit there and watch all those CCTV cameras all day? Something must go wrong in that job right? Especially those ones that follow you around. There are people in tiny dark rooms flicking switches thinking real life is GTAIV. That can't be good.

In other equally excellent news Pete Doherty is out. I don't want to demonise him any further but I'm pretty sure he's going home to kill his cats by drowning them in rum while taking coke. Just throwing it out there.
