VIDEO: Lethal Bizzle Feat. Donaeo/ Go Hard
I don't have a proper photo of me and Bizzle. That's weird. I do have this though, left to right you're looking at Ozzie B aka Zeds, the back of Lethal's head, Face and me. You'll notice I have the face of a man who's just taken the whole of Fire Camp at Blackjack. That's because I've just taken the whole of Fire Camp at Blackjack. Face and Lethal are some competitive motherfuckers though.
1Xtra got the exclusive on Lethal's new video 'Go Hard', it's not embeddable because it's 3 years ago apparently [that BBC website really needs to get its hits up apparently]. I'll play along WATCH IT HERE. I like this song way more now than I did when I first heard it. I look forward to hearing it in a live/ club context.

Adam West is a funny f*cker
Sometimes I'm not sure about Family Guy but Adam West is always hilarious. This is a video he did for Funny or Die. It's not hilarious but his delivery is awesome.
Mitchell Brothers/ Poem To Duffy
Wait a minute. What am I missing here? This is weird. Jack just sent this over... I'm totally fucking lost. The fact that it sounds like it was recorded from prison doesn't help and I'm not saying I don't like it but I need some context here. The Youtube description says it's a freestyle from their new mixtape 'Beam Us Up Scotty'. Interesting.

VIDEO: Raekwon Feat. Method Man & Ghostface- New Wu
Damn this video slipped under the radar along with the song's name change. I guess calling a song 'Suu Wu' was asking for trouble. This is a fucking smash record though I don't give a fuck. Best thing Wu Tang have done in years. YEARS. The video lacks direction, too many lost faces under performing. It will do though.

VIDEO: Mr Hudson/ There Will Be Tears
If this new Hudson album's gonna play out like a continuation from '808s & Heartbreak' then I'm definitely on it. I'm feeling this song a lot, you can kinda hear the Kanye influence on the lyrics in places. I get the impression Kanye really wants Hudson to be one of those great British voices from the 80s.
I'm gonna have to hit the London date of his new tour.

My song 'Blaow! Blaow!' featured in online GTA: China Town Wars viral about online multiplayer capabilities
Yeah that's a long blog title. This is a viral video Rockstar are using online to promote the online multiplayer capabilities in 'Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars' on the Nintendo DS. The song is new, called 'Blaow! Blaow!' with a hot Ghostface hook. It's an extremely violent record. I make no apologies for it.

Chingy did not have relationships with that man/woman
I hesitated before listening to that radio show that leaked yesterday with a transexual claiming to have been in a relationship with Chingy. Mainly because who the fuck is Chingy? I don't give a fuck about no Chingy. Also because if he took noodle in the caboodle that's really his business. Doesn't make me none. Then I thought about it, Chingy's fanbase is majorly female, I can say that without causing offence, for somebody to then come out and say he's been having relations with transexuals and these relationships involved him being [their words] the 'receiver' that's really, really some hating shit. If that's not true [I doubt it's true] then you're going out of your way to fuck up Chingy's career. I don't know why you feel like you can do that but it's fucked up. I caught Chingy's response on one of the top 5 UK Blogs I fucks with [maybe even top 3, maybe even top 2] lxents.blogspot.com. Like I say, I wouldn't know Chingy if he sold me a toaster but I kinda feel for him and the way that story spread in the space of 24 hours. I'm not protecting Ma$e though. He almost certainly did that shit.

So I just finished series 1 of The Wire...
Tego's been banging on about it for months of course but I wanted the hype to die down before I got into it. Unfortunately the BBC picked it up and got me hooked, I missed a couple of episodes and ended up having to borrow the DVD box-set from Tego. I've now got Series 2 and it's on. It's on. I'm fairly convinced that maybe [maybe] Sopranos aside it's the best TV I've ever watched. One thing I thought it best to share with you at this juncture, seeing as you all see me as a god of pure genius already...Clarke Peters, aka Lester Freamon aka The best fed in the whole damn town is a personal friend of mine. I know I know, be jealous. How does Lester Freamon become a friend of Marvin's I hear you ask? Well Lester aka Clarke Peters played one Billy Flynn in the stage version of Chicago in the West End a few years back. If you pay special attention to the second verse of 'I Hate My Job' you'll note that I used to work in The Adelphi theatre at the same time. We used to chill after every show and he was seriously cool. Thinking about it...I think 'Chicago' might have been his last gig before filming The Wire. At least that's what his IMDB would suggest. I know what you're thinking "Oh he's met him. He doesn't know him" no haters NO. Me and Clarke Peters go back, way back. If I saw Clarke in the skreets tomorrow he'd recognise me and almost certainly cast me in The Wire Series 6 which they're not making. I'm confident that if there were a Series 6 then I would definitely be in it. How's that haters? Suck out! What? On a serious note though, we were definitely cool back in the day and he was a pretty great Billy Flynn. I don't have a photo because I'm a sucker but I will do someday.
That's all I wanted to share.
Spread the news, I'm going to be in The Wire Series 6! Plus I've got Streets Of Rage 5 but my mum won't let you in my house to play it! I swear! I got it from America!

I just bought this from Wimbledon HMV where the real tugs roll. Don't catch their eyes though, they will cower in shame. Real tugs indeed.
I didn't actually know this album was out, 'Grand Royal' is classic and the album bumps pretty well from start to finish. There are problems [too much Havoc on the Mobb Deep track for instance] but I'll give it a few more spins before committing to a final opinion.

Lion Club on a Journey
Lion Club are a painfully young band kicking the shit at the moment. They've hooked up with ConverseMusic.co.uk to film a documentary series over the next 9 months. Sounds like fun [watch the trailer above]. The series is being filmed and edited by some guys who interviewed me in the past so you know it's going to be quality.
New at conversemusic.co.uk for April is ‘Journey’ an exclusive series following the trials and tribulations of four young lads from the band Lion Club. The programme follows the backstage, the front of house, the road trips, the home life and all the bits in-between of one of the most exciting new bands hoping to crack today’s competitive music industry in 2009. The 5 minute weekly videos will be exclusive to conversemusic.co.uk, capped by a final 50 minute edit ensuring this will be one of the most exciting online documentary projects to be commissioned in recent years.
Documenting the rise of this enigmatic group the Lion Club will be opening up their world using their own cameras, enabling a candid and open story of life on the road supported by the Converse Music Media Team during live shows. Whilst on their ‘Journey’ navigating through the numerous pitfalls within the music industry, this initiative will provide great documentation of one of Britain’s most promising and talented groups.

Flying on a budget airline is as bad as stabbing somebody on the streets? How did that come up?
Green Party MEP Caroline Lucas was asked whether flying on a budget airline was anything like stabbing somebody in the street. Her response was "Yes - because they are dying from climate change." The response of a fucking idiot of course, but who asked that question? Who made that initial association? Lucas also claimed that our air quality made us "the dirty old man of Europe" am I wrong to quite like that title? The always awesomely direct and leading Daily Mail have the story as well as a response from the equally nonsensical UK Independence Party. What a great day for politics.

Dizzee Rascal- Rotate Freestyle [with DJ MK & Shortee Blitz]
Dizzee absolutely murks this. I don't know what it is about 'Rotate' but I like that beat. It sounds like a late 90s Def Jam single which I wouldn't have liked at the time but somehow I feel it.

Devil In The Distance is 1 year and 11 days old!
I've been blogging on Devil In The Distance for 1 year and 11 days today. I told myself to remember the 1 year anniversary but of course I forgot because why wouldn't I? What a stupid thing to remember. Devil In The Distance was set up primarily to continue my MySpace blogging in the Facebook age and to keep you close to the promotion of my debut album 'Devil In The Distance' which came out July 29th 2008. This blog has seen two exclusive mixtapes ['The Blogspot Mixtape' and 'Somebody's Watching Me' still available for free down the right hand side of this page ->] and 635 posts. I have no intention of stopping blogging on DITD and infact have many new treats for my realest fans coming in the next few months including MP3s, Podcasts, mixtapes, videos and more.
So here's to 1 year and 11 days of DITD! Let's celebrate by watching the video I posted in my first post...the 'Nimble Mix' of 'Superhero'.
The new Mavado album is nice
I listened to 'Mr Brooks...A Better Tomorrow' a couple of weeks ago and disregarded it as a sloppy follow-up to Mavado's brilliant first album 'Gangsta for Life: The Symphony of David Brooks'. Having listened to it a few times since I was clearly too quick to judge, the album is richer and a smoother than 'Gangsta for Life' which is not necessarily a good thing, but Mavado's song writing and performance have developed to an outstanding extent. I can't be fucked giving you a review and yeah I know he ran away from Vybz Cartell but fuck it. Vybz can battle but I doubt he could make an album as good as either of Mavado's [I like Vybz though]. The album's on Spotify for all of you who are so inclined. I've actually got a decent amount of good new music going on at the moment.

Random Argos product of the day: Part 1
You really can't have a good product for sale when the Argos description reads "On/off indicator". I really want to know before I see that little light whether or not that thing on my head is working.

Tyson Fury
Not only does he have the best name in the history of ever [named after Mike]. He's also turning into one of the most exciting fighters I've seen fight heavyweight in years. I got really into the British heavyweight division a few years ago when Danny Williams was at his peak but I was aware that the general quality of the division was quite low. 5 fights into his professional career [5 knock-outs] the 20 year old 6'9 Manchester born bruiser has gone from strength to strength. Fighting on Saturday night, Fury destroyed Matthew Ellis in 48 seconds, putting him down twice. Significantly Tyson appears to have dropped 2 to 3 stone since his debut professional fight against Bela Gyongyosi which he won in the first round just 5 months ago. Tyson's biggest fight will be on the Carl Froch bill in Conneticut on the 25th, his opponent is yet to be announced. It's been so long since a heavyweight's been fun to watch and worth getting behind but Tyson really does appear to have a future.

Yes you are correct. James Corden sucks.
I told you James Corden sucks last year. 6 months after the gas people are starting to realise. I actually watched a few minutes of Horne and Corden the other night. It was honestly the worst thing I've ever seen and I've seen racism. Horne and Corden is worse than racism.
This great article on The Guardian website about how shitty James Corden is made me smile. It didn't go far enough for my liking but I'm glad people are figuring it out. Gavin and Stacey was shit too, the only reason people gave it time was because it had powerful comedy people behind it.

Jadakiss finally drops a hot album!
I've been playing this for 3 days straight. I can't get enough. I'm so surprised Jada has finally done it. It only took 13[?] years but Jadakiss finally has product I'll be investing in. See you Tuesday HMV. Awha! Ayoodat!

I bought a Wacom Bamboo
Never let it be said that Akira The Don is not an inspiration. After watching his Omega Sanction artwork videos [one of which I've encoded below] I parted with hard earned fundage for a little Wacom Bamboo Tablet. It arrived in Tuesday from Amazon in a box about 50 times its actual size and I started fucking around with it yesterday. I sucked at first but on my third try I'm starting to get the hang. I actually got an Art GCSE and was something of a prodigy with the pen/clay [yeah boy] and I haven't really done any drawing since I left school in '02. A couple of months back I drew the guy to the right of me in the office [you don't need to know his name. I might scan it and run it through Photoshop actually] as if he'd been addicted to meth and I had a lot of fun doing it, the picture turned out okay [good enough to bluetak onto the wall thank you very much] but it gave me a drawing bug. Akira came along with his badderman drawing skills and I was pushed over the edge. I've attached a little Pixel trace and colour thing I did yesterday afternoon [click to enlarge]. I will post my designs over the coming months so you can measure my improvement.

1 in 20 Pound coins is fake?
I used to stand there like a sucker dropping the same pound coin into the vending machines at tube stations. These days I give up straight away. I guess the reason the machine doesn't like them is because they're fake. Which is pretty genius. I kinda felt like counterfeit money was restricted to £50 notes. You can never pass a £50 note these days. There are a couple of people in Britain right now making some serious bank behind this shit. Kudos. Unless it's Gordon Brown. Which it could well be.

RapRadar > Nahright?
I've been the most regular user of Nahright.com since one month after it launched [word to Ian Different Kitchen who put me up on Eskay way back in the day]. But since the hipster movement and the over-posting of Eskay's weed carriers I have to say I'm less inclined to click a link on Nahright any more. I was worried that I'd lost a bit of love for hip-hop music and for a few months I really thought I had. Then RapRadar came along. I was very skeptical about Elliot Wilson going online and I am man enough to admit that I was wrong to be. Him being as well connected and experienced as he is, there's less room for error on his site. Without throwing Nahright under the bus with little to no evidence to support my claim, I kinda feel like Eskay and them got a little bit gassed by rappers personally and now they're the centre of a scene that isn't really going anywhere. Whereas RapRadar comes from XXL, The Source and Ego Trip so you know what you're getting, to the point, to the minute hot shit. I don't think Elliot Wilson could get any more gassed at this point [not a diss] he's pretty much hip-hop's pen. He'll go down as the guy who saw it all and wrote it all down and he knows it. So when a Mickey Facts or a Garry Spacks or whatever the latest cross dressing weirdo rapper pretending to have loved J-Dilla beats comes out he's not going to fall for it lightly.
The main attraction RapRadar has over Nahright though is the media player. Maybe I'm lazy or maybe I just don't like downloading and killing the industry any more but I'm really sick of going Sharebee, Zshare, wait, wait, wait, listen, like? Download, wait, wait, download, wait, wait. When Zshare's not working you're on Megaupload downloading bullshit freestyles until you can't be fucked any more. Did the download generation hit a wall? Or are they about to? Who do we trust? The best of the best are gassed and the rest are tagged. Tags? Fuck tags. We've been pondering the concept of RapRadar being better than Nahright for a few days now and I figured I'd follow through with a final opinion after watching Elliot Wilson's interview with Semtex [watch below]. I'll still be a regular on Nahright don't get me fucked up but props due, Elliot Wilson appears to have really pulled this one off.
BONUS: Asher Roth Feat. Rock City & Beanie Sigel on RapRadar.com is fucking crazy. How is this not a cut on the shelf copy album?
Banksy's Mild Mild West defaced by anti-gentrification group
I love this. Anti-gentrification group Appropriate Media defaced Banksy's 'Mild Mild West' mural in Bristol. The genius double negative of using graffiti on graffiti to protest gentrification. Fucking amazing. It totally works too.
"I'm confused at the message from whoever did it"said Oli Wells, who is the director of Coexist, the company refurbishing the area
"It's been cleaned by the community who sit outside and enjoy the artwork - street drinkers and local businesses working together so it seems to indicate the local community like having the Banksy there,"Oli seems to understand it better than he's leading on. Appropriate Media say
"Graffiti artists are the performing spray-can monkeys for gentrification."Word to mother.

Akira's new Mixtape-Album is almost ready to drop. You can pre-order it for £4.99 which is a pretty sweet deal. He's also got T-Shirt's for sale that look fucking decent.
